Welcome to the castle of Montigny-sur-Aube
A renowned center for the art of espalier training.
Rich in eight centuries of history and architecture, the Château de Montigny-sur-Aube, located at the borders of three departments (Côte d'Or, Haute-Marne and Aube) between Champagne and Burgundy and within the National Forest Park, combines culture and heritage with horticulture and gastronomy.
Come and discover the chapel, a jewel of the Renaissance (16th century), the orchards and vegetable gardens restored to their original 19th-century model, a high place of the art of espalier (registered as intangible cultural heritage in France by the Ministry of Culture since 2023), the moats refilled with water where swans, ducks and carp have now taken up residence and much more.
Immerse yourself in the history of this estate, which, from its origins as a 12th-century fortified house to the major renovations undertaken at the beginning of the 20th century, has also been home to many illustrious figures. Here, you will discover a significant moment in our history, symbolized by the Harry Truman Memorial, inaugurated in 2018 by his grandson and French and American authorities, to ensure that his presence at the château for several weeks is never forgotten—a period in his life that forever marked the birth of a great leader.
Come and finally taste all the tasty produce, grown organically, of several hundred varieties of fruit and vegetables, at La Table Des Jardiniers, our farm-inn located in the fig orchard, in the orangery or on its terrace at your convenience and depending on the weather.
